Kentucky tops Blue Ribbon’s preseason Top 25 poll

John Calipari’s loaded Kentucky team tops Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook‘s preseason Top 25 poll. The Atlantic Coast Conference and Big Ten are well represented with five teams each. ACC teams include three of the top eight (No. 4 North Carolina, No. 5 Duke, No. 8 Virginia). The Big 12 has four teams, including No. 6 Kansas.

The highest-ranking teams not from the power conferences are No. 7 Wichita State (Missouri Valley) and No. 9 Gonzaga (West Coast). In the last two seasons, Wichita State has played in the Final Four (2012-13) and gone undefeated through the second round of the NCAA tournament (2013-14). And Gonzaga coach Mark Few, never one to overstate his team’s case, is pleased with his talent.

“The sky’s definitely the limit,” Few told Blue Ribbon. “But you say that guardedly in that I watched Kentucky down there at the Bahamas [during the Wildcats’ summer tour] and you’re like, ‘Wow.’ I mean, that’s quite a collection there.”

The tablet version of the 34th edition of college basketball’s “bible” will be released this week on and two printed versions, the perfect bound and popular new spiral bound, will be available in October. Order on-line at
